FilmGate Miami’s reimagined actor, writer, and industry meet-up is back!

This is the longest-running Florida cold read event, that has opened opportunities for so many films!

 📝 Our mission with WTD is to craft, critique, and expand works and performances coming from our South Florida artists. 🎥  🌟 Special guests will include casting agents, filmmakers, and distinguished media industry members.

✨ This event features a read-through of screenplays and welcomes industry professionals to witness the talent Miami has to offer and to network.

FEATURED SCREENWRITERS:

• Andres Irias: Miami-based writer/director Andrés Irías developed a passion for film at a young age, sparked by his first movie theater visit at three. A decade later, watching Inception reshaped his perception of entertainment and narrative complexity. Influenced by Christopher Nolan, David Fincher, and Quentin Tarantino, Andrés excels in crafting large-scale concepts with visual techniques, captivating dialogue, and profound human truths. He has created over ten short films, earning multiple festival selections, awards, and streaming contracts with Latin American platforms, PBS, and Amazon Video. Currently, Andrés is working on three projects: Savoureux (short film), Imago (debut feature), and Walküre (three-season series).

• Jose Duran: Jose Duran is an actor and filmmaker who was born in Santa Cruz, Bolivia, and grew up in Miami. In 2015 he moved to New York City to study acting at the William Esper Studio. As an actor, he's appeared on NBC's "The Blacklist" and starred in "Tu Me Manques", Bolivia's entry for Best International Feature at the 92nd Academy Awards. Through his production company, Luminous Path Films, he's worked on several short films and documentaries that have been screened at film festivals around the world. His most recent short film,"Coney Island Baby", which he wrote and directed, premiered at the TCL Chinese Theater in 2023 and won the Jury and Audience Award at the FilmGate Festival in Miami this year.

• Aaron Tyler Gil - Co-Director, Cinematographer

Aaron Tyler Gil is an award-winning DP, camera operator and video editor with 7 years of experience working across all levels of film and media production, from independent feature films to large-scale commercials, documentaries and events, handling RED, ARRI and Blackmagic cinema cameras under companies such as HBO, Peacock and VOX Media. He is an exceptional creative collaborator that prioritizes building long-term relationships with clients and colleagues.

• Gerald Pain - Writer, Co-Director

Gerald Pain is a screenwriter, actor and video editor with 8 years of experience working in production alongside companies such as HBO, Disney, Peacock, and Telemundo. He's also experienced in developing narrative feature films across a variety of genres and creating comedy style short films and social media series. He is driven from the passion to create characters that trigger an emotional response from audiences and carries that passion into his process of writing and directing his own personal projects.

• Zachariah Gil - Writer, Producer

Zachariah Gil is a screenwriter, director and producer specializing in the pre-production process on narrative video projects such as short films, music videos and documentaries. He is committed to building and polishing scripts as well as assembling the necessary resources needed to effectively set a project up for the shooting day.

The Bass main entrance faces east and is accessed through Collins Park.

The accessibility entrance faces north and is accessed through 22nd street.
